“Being a prolific author has been my dream since I was 12 years old. I started with poetry, which helped me to cope with depression throughout adolescence. I continued writing poetry into adulthood, publishing a collection of my work online.
As a way to stay connected with my out of state nieces, I wrote a poem about a colorful cat with a passion for adventure and travel. Eventually I used that character to create a children’s book, published in 2016. A few months after that book released, the publisher shut down and the owners were arrested for embezzlement and extortion.
What do you do when you’ve worked hard, only to have your dream come crashing down? I admit that I felt frustrated and lost, but continued to write children’s stories.
Fortunately, another publisher discovered me on Twitter and have since signed four of my stories to be published by them.I’ve started working with a new illustrator and am very excited to see the finished books! In total, I have five children’s stories, and am currently working on an additional three with a long list of ideas to pursue!”
